A gem in the making
Kanika was very fascinated by diamonds and jewellery since her childhood. Her happiest memories and passion for jewellery was born while searching through her grandmother’s jewellery boxes. These precious adornments give her excitement and confidence which she tries to bring in her creations.
Her love for jewellery began at a very young age. Her mom was the matriarch in their family, and growing up, she was always drawn to her jewellery collections. She has had a penchant for jewellery since then. Even today when she is confused about how a jewellery piece would look, she would imagine the piece on her mother.
After getting married in Surat, which is also called the “Diamond City” she was in awe with the type of growth and exposure it offered. As she was always fascinated by diamonds, she developed her limited knowledge by doing valuation and grading courses in Surat followed by a jewellery designing course. She started on a small scale from home and eventually got many orders in real diamond jewellery. This was the start of her career as a jewellery designer.
She likes to balance between her work and taking a break by going on vacations. Going on vacations recharges her and she feels relaxed. It also makes her see things differently and gives her fresh perspectives to use and mix materials.
Sparkling like a diamond
Jewellery is an integral part of our history and is deeply rooted in our Indian culture. Since ancient times, jewellery has been a part of all men and women. The trend is definitely changing in terms of its design and use but its importance remains unchanged.
With all her years of experience, she finds every unique little piece of jewellery signals a message and tells a story. After almost 15 years of experience in real diamond jewellery, Kanika Rana has now started a new online venture of Swarovski, semi-precious gems, and Kundan jewellery and later expanded into customization jewellery. This expansion into imitation jewellery and customization has been the main area of focus for them now.
Her work and passion in this field have been recognized and received many different awards. She is also recognized as the Best Jewellery Designer in India. She considers these recognitions as an integral factor in her growth. She also considers her business successful due to customers who return to her. She performs her work to the satisfaction of her customers and most people who have bought from her, have come back to buy more.
All that glitters is not gold
Jewellery designing is a very vast and challenging field where it is very important to exactly understand what the consumer wants. Being up to date with the current trends as any other line of work is equally important. With more than 20 years of experience, she keeps challenging her limits to adapt to the new trends in this field. She thinks the moment we limit ourselves in our thoughts and actions, the work gets impacted.
The Covid-19 global pandemic has changed and affected our lives in unimaginable ways. It has crippled India’s economy and also impacted every avenue possible. Like any other industry, her business and the jewellery industry also have been hit hard as a result of a long list of cancelled or postponed events, shows, exhibitions, and weddings. As the coronavirus scare gripped potential buyers and existing clientele, the gems, and jewellery industry lost its shine. But she is confident that this is a temporary phase that will end soon.
Now the market is slowly opening up and they are witnessing a surge in sales, which can be attributed to a demand which has been blocked for some time. This has resulted in revenge buying. The celebratory mindset of their returning customers looking to celebrate personal milestones also adds to their demand. At the same, the demand and acceptance of Fine Jewellery have seen a spike as there are unlimited options of designs that are not heavy on pockets.

In the coming future, she plans to take her passion for jewellery designing on a global level. She plans to leverage technology and social media as they have a significant role in the future. Currently, she is working on her next goal to expand the brand from Indian to the overseas market in the year 2022.
