Mayur Chauhan

Childhood of Mayur and his family

Mayur was born and raised in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. His father was a textile mill employee at Maneklal Harilal – MH Mill. Mayur received both his education and engineering degree in Ahmedabad. His grandfather wanted him to become a doctor, but Mayur stated he couldn’t choose medicine. Instead, in order to make his family happy, he chose engineering, even though he wasn’t really interested in the field.

Commencement of Mayur’s journey

Mayur’s father used to take him to the first day, first show of movie. He enjoyed watching films and was influenced by them. He made the decision to work in the film industry in the future with the hope of improving society and having an impact on the general public through his work.

He used to take the bus and listen to the radio while he was pursuing his engineering degree. He learned about an Antakshari competition that was going to be held in his city one lovely day. He went and took part in it. He met a lot of excellent people in the media and entertainment sector and asked practically everyone to assist him find reputable institutions where he might receive acting instruction. Mr. Chirag Tripathi suggested that to meet Mr. Nisarg Trivedi at the Darpan Academy in Usmanpura, Ahmedabad

He went and met Mr. Nisarg there. He was invited to attend the academy, but Mr. Nisarg made Mayur pledge not to leave his engineering studies to pursue an acting career. He soon joined that academy and began learning under the supervision of Mr. Nisarg Trivedi. He had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Abhinay Banker, who used to visit the same academy. Later, he performed in several plays under the direction of Mr. Abhinay.

Mayur’s commendable journey

During that time, Gujarati cinema was evolving and changing for the better. Mayur was loving his profession and had the opportunity to meet many well-known Gujarati film personalities, like Mr. Abhishek Shah. Shah was working on his film “Chhello Divas” and asked Mayur if he wanted to audition. Mayur went to an audition and was cast in a film. His performance received a lot of attention and praise. Mayur passed the auditions for two films before signing “Chhello Divas”, and by choosing not to participate in those films, he is happy now.

He appreciated every character he played along the way, but his performance in the film “Karshandas Pay & Use” stands out in his mind. Fans continue to express gratitude for his work. He is even happier because the theatre play “Haji Kasam Tari Vijli” one of his dream projects, is currently playing and receiving positive reviews. He wants to see a movie called “Vijli” based on the same story.

Throughout his journey, he learned a lot from his own experiences, particularly those in theatres. He learned about character development, body language, walking, and seating style. He used to learn by watching other people act and by watching interviews. He occasionally feels as though some actions and effort are kept in conscious memory.

Mayur’s recent times

The drama “Vijli” by Mayur Chauhan, which is receiving positive reviews everywhere, is what he is concentrating on most right now. He sustained shoulder injuries while practising for his stage show, and a few days ago underwent surgery.  He is not currently closing any deals, but once he is well enough, he will return to sign any films.

From his acting experiences to date, he has enjoyed working in both films and theatre plays. He believes that both have advantages and disadvantages. He discovered that film shoots provide opportunities for retakes and error fixes, which can be beneficial in a variety of ways. He feels that performing live in theatre plays is the best way to learn from mistakes, gain knowledge, and grow as an actor.  He also believes that, when compared to films, theatre provides immediate benefits and outcomes. In film, you must wait for shooting to be done before moving on to post-production and release.

Mayur’s dream with his career

Mayur aspires to be a part of a film or a tale that has a significant impact on many people’s lives and reaches a large audience. He wishes to get out to the masses through his narrative. He wishes to be a part of any project directed by directors like Sanjay Leela Bhanshali and Rajkumar Hirani.

Mayur never imagined receiving honours through awards or being featured in magazines. He does not have a strong desire to be honoured or covered, but he believes that being placed in the hearts of many people is the best award and magazine coverage

He believes that good scripts and screenplays are still lacking. He sees room for growth in Gujarati film and project screenwriting. He discovers that the reason for not acquiring good talents such as in Bollywood and other sectors is a lack of passion while creating projects. The objective should always be conveying a good story, but that major focus can shift.

Mayur’s favourite activities other than acting

Mayur is a huge cricket lover. He enjoys both watching and playing cricket. During his shoulder injuries, he began playing chess and discovered it to be enjoyable. He also enjoys playing mobile games.

He recalls some of the moments he had as a Dhoni fan during the most recent IPL 2023 opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Particularly when Dhoni came out to see Arijit Singh’s performance and all his fans from the crowds were crazily cheering up, when Arijit singh bow down towards Dhoni. While seeing Dhoni, he realised the craze of Dhoni and yellow T-shirts in the crowd, even though it was not a match of Chennai. Dhoni’s performance at such an age inspires him a lot. Such an event inspires Mayur to pursue big things in his career as well.

Mayur enjoys reading poetry, short stories, and fiction. He enjoys reading Ramesh Parekh, Saumya Joshi, Jay Vasavada‘s literature, “Doctor Ni Dairy” by Dr. Sharad Thakar, and he also enjoys reading and studying spiritual issues. He enjoys reading Osho’s literature.
