Roshni Solanki

Each one of us is born with talents. Some bloom and some never see the light of the day.  Support from family, and a will to work with passion and focus always yields the best results.

Roshni Solanki had a passion for acting but was sure she had to finish her studies before she ventures into the acting field.  She had to travel from Gujarat to Mumbai to give auditions.  During her studies, she took part in events and competitions and was lucky to have the un-ended support of her teachers and professors.  Her family too was all support and encouraged her to take a shot at this field of acting despite the hurdles that it has. She was new to this industry and did not know how to connect and take it forward. It’s a bit de-motivating when you get regrets from so many corners.  However, Roshni did not lose hope. She kept trying and giving auditions. Her parents motivated her and it is that support that gave her the boost to never give up.

Roshni enrolled in the Anupam Kher Institute. She knew her talents and capabilities and wanted to learn how to handle the camera angles and the perfect camera facing tricks that work. She attended seminars and workshops that helped her fine-tune her knowledge and talent. Roshni always felt that to get perfect at anything a professional training or guidance is a must.   During her stint in Mumbai, she educated herself on many technical aspects of acting. Choose well while selecting roles and pushing the envelope by taking up more challenging roles is another angle every actor should remember she says.

Kiku Sharda the renowned comedian among others helped her a great deal and she got an opportunity to work with him for Akbar Birbal.   Roshni is working in a Bollywood movie and was offered a negative character. She was a bit apprehensive but was told by a Director that unless she does all types of roles, her portfolio will not be comprehensive.  Hence to build a good portfolio she has to try her hand at multiple kinds of roles. Roshni was lucky when YehRista the serial was casting for a Gujrati girl role.  In the process of working in various schedules, she was fortunate to meet the cast of the CID team, Amitabh Bachchan, Kapil Sharma and many more great names in the industry.

Roshini has done short films which are ‘women-centric’ highlighting issues that relate to women in general, besides environment awareness films. A must in today’s world, with depleting natural resources.

Unnati Acting Academy, her acting academy imparts training to those who want to enter this field.  Guidance and mentoring them along with interactions with well-known celebrities help them gain self-confidence.  Coming to Mumbai from small towns can be very daunting and to take on anyone on any platform, one needs to be confident – both internally and body language-wise.

Competition is not gender-specific.  In today’s world, both girls and boys need to struggle equally and make a mark for themselves.  Skills and talents are inborn but it has to be properly nurtured to be used and showcased well.  Professional help and understanding of what happens behind the camera are as important as what happens in front. A will to do the best is the first step towards a successful career in any field.
