Born and Brought up
RJ Rocky was born in October 1985 in Ahmadabad. He completed his schooling at St. Xavier’s High school in Mirzapur and completed his college from Shree Sahajanand College in Ahmadabad. This has made him have an excellent command of the Gujarati language which is very convenient for anyone wanting to work on a local level.
Struggles and Hindrances
He had to struggle a lot in his initial days after he won the RJ Mirchi hunt in 2006. He could not find any work for two years. But, he worked hard and continued to give auditions. He got rejected many times, but all of these made him more motivated. Finally, he was selected by RED FM as RJ. In 2008, he started his Radio jockey journey with RED FM.
Moving on the Journey
Rocky has been working in Radio since 2008. He left RED FM and shifted to Mumbai and joined HT Media in 2016. Here Rocky did some radio programs as the main radio presenter, and then he transferred to Ahmedabad in July 2019 to work with RADIO ONE.
Rocky always believes in quality and uniqueness and always come up with some exciting and innovative ideas. He always does lots of research and collects information through various platforms before talking about any topic in his show. He shares interesting facts with his audience and keeps them engaged with his show. Currently, he is conducting the evening show called ‘TOTAL Dhamaal’ on 95 FM Radio One which goes on air from 4 pm to 8 pm.
He is very good at adopting new ideas and trends on his radio programs. He connects well with all kinds of people and can easily impress every segment with his voice or content. People love him and admire his energy and follow him on social media to hear more. This has made him have a very successful career in Radio as an RJ. He believes in continuous learning and still has the same passion for Radio as the first time he addressed his audience. Rocky also reviewed, composed a song, and promoted the popular show ‘scam 1992‘. This was appreciated by the star cast of this web series and has got a tremendous response on social media and got over 50k views on YouTube.
In 2020, he has completed 12 years as RJ and achieved many milestones in his journey. Rocky got Golden mike awards and got a special recommendation from CID, CBI, CYBERCRIME, and WOMEN CELLS for his audio crime series. His biggest achievement is however when fans scream his name and say “salaam Rocky Bhai”. Every day he gets several messages on his different social media accounts about his shows and topic which he has shared with his listeners. This is a huge reward for Rocky more than anything else.
Rocky also loves to explore different places of India by roads on his bike. Recently, he went to Indore by road also did a journey to Hyderabad by road and wants to explore the remaining parts of India. He is fond of music and learned classical music for 2 years. He is an active member of the church choir and continued his service until the COVID-19 pandemic.
He considers his father as his Role model. Amazed by his father’s journey, and he has always tried to follow his father’s values and principles as much as he can.
What’s in the future?
Rocky is very much satisfied with his career and plans to continue his RJ work till he will turn fifty. He also plans to make his debut on the YouTube channels and introduce himself to other digital platforms in the future. As he is very fond of cars and bikes, so he also wants to start blogging on vintage bikes and cars. He wants to meet new people, wants to explore their culture, traditions, and wants to explore his love of music. Rocky has hosted a talk show for the OTT platform and also a project with Endamole shine as a participant however he plans to host a show on national television in the future.
