FM radio is an integral part of most households and walkers today. Like all social platforms, it is entertaining, informative and brings with it energy, a much-needed virtue for each one of us in this busy world.
Avani Rajiv Bhatt , today an RJ with FM Gold had made it to this seat with grit and determination. Originally from Rajkot , Gujarat and having completed her Engineering in Electronics from Lukhdhirji Engineering College, Morbi, Avni did her Sound Recording from Mumbai University.
Well learned and placed parents gave her a background of stability and knowledge base. Avani’s father was an Audit Officer of AG office, and Mother a teacher of the Kotecha and Modi School, Gujarat. While her father was good at Science and Math and mother over language, and literature ( English, Gujarati and many more), Avani had her base on every front taken care of. Not just the books but melody was an integral part of their household. They were both lovers of Music, and playing musical instruments and singing was common in their house.
Blessed with such a stable background, Avani was given equal opportunities viz a viz choice of career. Trust and belief in her gave Avani the boost to pursue her passion. Being a good student with equally good grades, gave Avani the entry into an Engineering college with ease. She was allowed to pursue Engineering outside her home town. The independence that comes with solo living, gave her a sense of independence to manage by herself. Experience and travel as rightly said are the best teachers.
After having completed her Engineering, Avani tied the knot with Mr. Rajiv Bhatt and moved to Mumbai. A talented music professional, Rajiv was working on his career and was associated with singers like Shankar Mahadevan, Udit Narayan, and Sonu Nigam. He had the privilege to travel extensively for concerts both domestic and international. With a wonderfully supporting spouse, Avani started her career in singing, until one day her friend asked her to try for a vacancy for an ‘announcer’. Avani anyway had the voice, flair, and confidence, hence she applied. She had a good command in multiple languages. She decided to apply for Gujarati and Hindi vacancies. An RJ is not just about announcing, it is about a good command on the language, patience with listeners, voice modulation, knowledge of music genres, general knowledge and overall ability to think on your feet. Avani did well and cleared both rounds and it was a great achievement for her both personally and professionally.
Avani, has this inbuilt ability to learn. Learn from people, situations, friends, family, kids, and sources both online and offline. Learning never stops. It is like a ticking clock, every second in life is learning in some way or the other. It never stops till you are alive!
Every working woman has a balancing act to be perfected. Home, children and family responsibilities on one side and work on the other. No individual is a superman, but support from loved ones goes a long way in helping balance this scale. Her family and husband helped her achieve the balance so that she could have a career, follow her passion and make a mark for herself.
Simplicity was what she was taught in childhood. She sticks to that even today. Not after brands, luxury or glamour shopping, she like most women enjoy street shopping. The kick of stealing a deal from a vendor is indeed a great feeling! Apart from being an RJ , she loves to teach music and be associated with music in every way. Learning as she teaches and at the same time spreading the joy and magic of music through her voice on the Radio and among her listeners and students.
