“A small habit can change the future” this statement can be applied to Mr. Ajaysinh Chauhan. Ajaysinh born and brought up in the Kasa village, located near Visnagar in the North Gujarat. He spent his childhood with his maternal family. While he was in school, he started going to the library. Regularly visiting library completely changed his perspective towards Gujarati literature.
Ajaysinh Chauhan is the only kid of his family born on September 25, 1983. He belongs to the middle-class family have no such connections with literature.
Dynamic Start
Choosing field of interest and make other convinced about that decision is not that easy. Ajaysinh was sure to take admission into the art. His decision of choosing art field made everyone confused including his family. Everyone was worried and unsatisfied with his decision for career stability point of views.
In the year of 2000, Ajaysinh took admission into the Sardar Patel University, Anand for the Bachelor of Arts course. After B.A. he took admissions into the Masters of Art too. Ajaysinh focused into his studies among hurdles and opposed.
After completion of Masters of Art, Ajaysinh took admission into the M.Phil. While studying M.A. he decided to become a professor for the Gujarati literature. He applied for the job and placed into the reputed college of Anand – N. S. Patel Arts college.
His job was not having that handsome salary that makes his family unhappy. Ajaysinh was enjoying his work, he spent almost a decade. During his tenure he has given justice to his professional assignments and also added value to the institute.
Turning point of his life
He has started Ph.D under the guidance of renowned professor of Gujarati literature Maninal H. Patel. In 2013, he completed his Ph.D for the topic “ Post Modern Gujarati Poetry ( Adhunikottar Gujarati Kavita)”. Working under the guidance of such a great personality, helped and inspired him a lot.
Later on, he cleared GPSC exams and got job in the Government college as a professor at Meghraj, a small village located at Gujarat – Rajasthan Border. He accepted job at remote and distant place with the cost of his loving and caring family.
Best medicine of struggling days
He was not demoralised and uncomfortable with his job location challenges as he has strong mindset and passion of contributing his best for Gujarati literature. He has started renovation of dormant library of that institute. He has changed the infrastructure and gifted best library to the students of that institute. Ajaysinh is thankful to the management of that institute for allowing him to make that possible.
Pannalal Patel was the real contributor for academia of the region hence he has renamed that library as a “Pannalal Patel Pushtakalay”. Ajaysinh did many such activities for students’ community and created superb legacy for the next generation to arrive.
Climbing ladder of success
Later on, he got transferred to the state government institute located near Sojitra of the Anand district. Then he got promoted to the Gujarat Sahitya Academy as a Registrar. Recently he got promoted as associate professor for Central University. He has served as a senate member for Faculty of Arts, Member of Gujarati Board Studies of Sardar Patel University and Member of Governing Body of Gujarati Sahitya parishad from 2013 to 2017 too.
During his tenure he contributed out of the box for the Gujarati literature. He has taken many innovative initiatives for the approval of the first PG course for Gujarati literature. He got honoured by “Gujarat Yuva Purushkar” in the year 2016.
Feathers added in his cap
During his journey Ajaysinh got chance to work with Padmashri – VishnuBhai Pandya: Chairman of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi. Respected Vishnubhai gave him that freedom in work that helped him uplifting and polishing his working techniques.
Ajaysinh used to spend good amount of time in the reading on regular basis since his childhood. He likes reading literature of many authors, he can make a long list of his favourite. He always has huge respect for all the contributors of Gujarati literature field. He likes shri Pannalal Patel, Shri Umashakar Joshi, Shri MannuBhai Pancholi for his writings and contribution.
During his childhood days, he used to make a list of books to read and books he read. He has read many books multiple times including “Socrates” and “Deep Nirvan”.
His passion for literature made one thing possible and easy that is editing books written by legend writers and those are: Amritlal Vegad nu pravas sahitya, Gaam Javani Hath chhodi de – Poem by Manilal H Patel, Sarvatratyamya Narmada.
