Indranil Rajguru, was born in Rajkot,Gujarat on June 26, 1966. The native village of the family was Jalia, Amreli in Gujarat. Indranil’s father ,SanjayRaj Rajguru was a businessman as well as a politician. He was also the President JillaPanchayat, Rajkot. The Rajguru family was generally well off and considered rich. Indranil completed his higher secondary ( class 12) but was not able to complete his graduation. He regrets that even today and his advice to youngsters is to pursue and complete formal education as eventually it’s the education that helps you fall back and get back on track. Indranil’s father influenced him a great deal and even when he lost his father, his thoughts and advises never left his side. His father is always with him as a mentor – in life and after.
Learning from scratch and walking up the ladder
The family owned many petrol pumps and Indranil started his journey at these pumps. He used to help with filling petrol, manage accounts and function as an overall in charge. He was learning fast the nuances of this business hands on. Once his interests were identified, he wanted to make a career in business but with a forward thinking approach
He diversified into travels, real estate and restaurant business when he was approximately 24 years of age. Some of his business were SanjayRaj Travels, Dew Drops Restaurant and SanjayRaj Estates. Since his approach was not the regular style his format got popular. He would go into the workings of the business to the minutest details and understand it from root upwards.
Outline and rules from within
Every successful entrepreneur has his own philosophies and it’s these very mantras that help them achieve their goals. Indranil himself had a few outlines he believed in. He was always open to learning, analyzing and observing the intricacies of business. Whatever the business, he ensured he understood it thoroughly. In a decade, his ventures showed good growth which led to the addition of “Neel Da Dhaba” in 1999. An addition and a line he understood well – “the food business”.
Service before self
Another area of interest and also having seen his father was politics. He joined politics in 1995 and contested the corporation elections in 2000 after handing over the reins of his business to a family member. The year 2000 and beginning of the millennium proved to be lucky for Indranil. He was elected the corporator for the term 2000-2005 . He was into the Rajkot Municipal Corporation as a governing member besides being elected as the Deputy Mayor and Standing Committee Chairman in that term.
In the year 2012 Indranil Rajguru contested the elections with a Congress ticket and won. He became an MLA . He was the one to win on a Congress ticket in this constituency, where Congress never saw a win for many years. His connect with the people and his work on the ground that proved beneficial to the constituent was proved by this win. He was powerful and one of the richest businessman and politician. Wealth is not just monetary but also with his deeds and welfare for society. His roles as the election in charge and city president were of great relevance. He was known to have spent his own funds for party work and elections.
He was known to all as a great leader but also a simple person who worked hard to create an empire. He contributed towards social work, his helping hand to the poor, educational support, medical support, cancer care assistance and matrimonial expense is well known. Career guidance and empowering society comes naturally to him.
The expansion to make a difference
The year 2004 saw another addition to his empire, The “Neel City Club”. Indranil is considered the pioneer who started the club culture in Saurashtra, Gujarat. The club had activities like swimming, tennis and other sports activities with specialized professional trainers. His extensive travel and exposure gave him the idea to begin an all-inclusive fitness/cultural club. The club became the “go to place” and was the chosen venue for Navratri celebrations, New Year Evening Events and Dhuleti celebrations and concerts. The club started getting recognized for its prominence in this space.
Indranil Rajguru saw a great deal of success in businesses and politics too. His father had a wish to contribute towards the education in the country. Keeping that in mind Indranil started the Om Shanti Engineering College, which is now the SanjaybhaiRajguru College of Engineering under the banner of the SanjayRaj Education Zone. The well-constructed college houses a hostel facility inside the campus of 105 acres and is the second largest engineering college in Gujarat. Subsequently he started the Sanjaybhai Rajguru Science College.
His real estate projects are very successful. His residential projects are Neel’s Greenwood, Neel’s Astral, Sanjay Vatika,Prashil Park, Dwarkesh Society and Green Avenue to name a few. He has also done commercial project like Emporia, Mantra ( under construction) and many more landmark projects.
The restaurant / food business too has seen many additions from when he started. To name a few Bali Garden Restaurant, Neel’s Stimulus, Crazy Noodles, Illusion cafe, Gossips Restaurant. Neel’s city resorts and Hotel Mint are some of his hotel projects with another one under construction.
Philosophies from the heart
Indranil Rajguru lives by philosophies like great thinkers. Being ethical and honest – two traits with which one can never go wrong. Hobbies like road trips, adventure rallies, cooking and a passion for luxurious cars keep him fit in body and mind.
Education is a must, but if one does not achieve formal education then experience and willingness to learn from life is the biggest classroom and teacher. Indranil Rajguru followed this theory and absorbed as much as he could along the way. Hard work and integrity helped him expand and touch the hearts of people in more ways than one.
